CASE PRESENTED:
An authorized Little David® distributor was asked to visit a company that produces custom packaging for supermarkets and private brands. The company was changing exterior packaging on a product from a traditional corrugated RSC box to a new shelf-ready box with perforations. Their existing case sealer would not work with the newly designed box.
CHALLENGE:
- The 3.5” wide box was unstable due to perforations that ran diagonal on the length of the box.
- The perforations ran up the side of the box from 1.2” at the top to 1.2” from the bottom. A standard tape cartridge with a 2” tab would tape over the perforations, damaging the box and making it unusable.
RESULTS:
The boxes were tested and successfully processed using the LD-3SB w/narrow box option and CA60IT 1”short tab cartridge. The LD-3SB side belts secured the unstable box and the box maintained integrity. The CAC60IT 1”short tab cartridge consistently taped within the perforation band enabling the box design to function as intended.
The LD-3SB NBO worked so well with the CAC60IT short tab cartridge, the company purchased a second machine within 6 months.
