Latest Case Sealer from Loveshaw Increases Productivity at Rapidparts, Inc.
South Canaan, Pa., November 30, 2005 � Rapidparts, an affiliated forklift parts distribution company of Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift of America, Inc., found a simple way to increase throughput and staff productivity. The company replaced its manual method of packaging parts with an automated packaging line featuring Loveshaw� Corporation's latest top and bottom case sealer � the Random Legend.Before purchasing Loveshaw's Random Legend, Rapidparts packaged all its shipments manually using gum tape to build the box, stuffing the box by hand and affixing a final seal with a gum tape dispenser. Increased volumes drove the distributor � which ships over 500 air and 1,300 ground packages a week � to find a new, more efficient system. Since switching to the Random Legend, throughput has increased by more than 17%, saving at least three hours of labor per day.
In addition to increased productivity, Jim VanNess, Operations Manager of Rapidparts, cites the improved visual appeal of its packages since switching to the Random Legend, "it produces a much more aesthetically pleasing box that is uniform package after package."
